Hello world!
I am embarking on an altogether new phase of my life, retirement. Anyone who is interested in reawakening forgotten dreams or would like to make changes to their life this blog is for you.
Whether you want to make a change in your daily schedule, your weekly schedule, your place of residence moving down the road, town, state or even another country you have found your place.
Challenges of Retirement
The challenge of retirement is to find relevance again by doing activities that matter. I will be writing about adjusting to this new day to day. One of my big bucket list wishes was to live in the Netherlands or France for some time and evaluate whether I would like to live there on a long-term basis. I will explain more why I chose these countries in a future post.
Packing up
So, mid – October I will be living in Southern France for a month and half in a city called Menton. Menton is on the Cote d’Azur in southern France in the French Riviera. It is city which is a half an hour drive from Nice, and 30 minutes from the Italian border. Bloggers, Salt in Your Hair, have a comprehensive post about the beauty of Menton.
After my time there I will be moving towards a city nestled in the Alps, Annecy. Annecy is 30 minutes from the Swiss border.
So here is my “Hello, World!”
I will be sharing all my trials and tribulations on a personal level but also the necessary logistics to achieve this. Additionally, I have 2 dogs who will be coming along on this adventure as well. And of course, not to forget the encountered blunders that will be shared all along the way. I hope my journey may start a mustard seed of inspiration for you. Adjusting to retired life all the while planning a trip abroad this fall with 2 dogs has brought my need to make lists to a new level! The unfolding of this dream will be one of the biggest achievements of my life. A quote I like which gives me solace through this process is:
“It’s not about perfect planning, it’s about the courage to plan and the determination to follow through on your dreams.”- Unknown
So, this is my hello to the world in my first post. It’s great to have you here on this journey with me. If you’d like to know a little bit more about me, please check out my About page
