Attending A Retreat

Went to a weekend retreat! One of my bucket list wishes was attending a retreat and taking a class. I tried to find a place that offers yoga, good food, and preferably a place I can drive to in a couple of hours. Well, searching online I found a beautiful looking retreat which had everything I was looking for at The Kripalu Center for Yoga. They were named top retreat by Conde Nast traveler and Oprah Daily. They offer many classes and seminars weekly or for the weekend.

Signing Up

I signed up for a weekend seminar called Emotional Detox, and I thought that at this stage of life it would be good to relieve myself of some of the baggage I have carried up until now. I signed up for this several months ago and couldn’t believe how quickly the time passed and that it was time to get ready to go.  Many thoughts went through my mind. Especially should I be taking the time to do this? Should I be spending the money on this? How will it be doing this alone? Many doubts, fears and a sprinkle of guilt were spinning through my mind. At any rate, I decided I am going.

A phrase I had heard a while back came to mind: try to do something that is a bit scary every once in a while. Being able to achieve this will bring about a tremendous amount of confidence and sense of wellbeing. Keeping that in mind while I was driving down with my bags packed for a 4-hour drive.

Attending The Retreat

The weekend was spectacular! Everything about the experience was wonderful particularly the seminar, and the instructors Shannon Kaiser and Sherianna Boyle, who were both excellent. They were so personable and led the weekend with expertise, kindness and humor.  Meeting new people and allowing myself this time was definitely in line with what this weekend was about. Above all, being able to listen to your inner knowing, and not to let fear and guilt stop your dreams and desires.  I am not working for Kripalu or the teachers in any way. Rather, I am endorsing them from having experienced a weekend at Kripalu.

Retreat Instructors

The instructors were so knowledgeable they both have written several books. One of Shannon Kaiser’s books is Return to You – 11 Spiritual Lessons for Unshakeable Inner Peace. To learn more about Shannon Kaiser check out her Instagram at

Sherrianna Boyle also has several books, the other book I bought from her was , Energy in Motion – The Power of Emotions and Intuition to Cultivate Peace and Freedom.

Driving back home gave me time to contemplate the weekend attending a retreat. I am so grateful that I went and did not listen to my inner doubts.  Taking a chance and taking that leap of faith, my bravery paid off.

Take that leap of faith, believe in yourself and begin the next step to your wonderful journey!

Thanks for being here,
